Description
Blacksail, our most remote location, is a former shepherds bothy offering simple accommodation with a real mountain hut atmosphere. It stands at the head of the remote Ennerdale Valley, surrounded by some of the highest, most famous Lakeland peaks. Great for getting away from it all.

There is compact self-catering kitchen with domestic appliances.

Nearby
Great Gable, High Crag, Pillar, Red Pike and Kirk Fell are all on the doorstep. Buttermere (3.5 miles by mountain path), Honister Pass (2.5), Ennerdale (4).

16 beds: 2x4 and 1x8 bed rooms.

Parking
There is no car access. There is parking for one vehicle at YHA Ennerdale and all other cars should be left at Bowness Knott (7 miles from Black Sail) or at other car parks in the vicinity. Guests must be prepared to walk into Blacksail carrying their supplies.

Other facilities
The dining room/lounge seats 16 and has a solid fuel stove. There are basic facilities with limited electricity supply and a telephone for 999 calls only. YHA staff are resident in Ennerdale (4 miles).
